How to create the design of a circular footing
In this construction video tutorial, the renowned civil engineer Mr. Parag pal has provided some useful information on how to create the design of a circular footing.
The calculation is made on the basis of the following data :-
Total load of the column = 2400 KN
Therefore, the weight of footing should be roughly 10% of column load = 240 KN (10% of 2400)
By adding the total load of the column & the footing weight, total load will be determined i.e. total load = 2400 + 240 = 2640 KN
The safe bearing capacity to the soil is taken as 250 KN/m2
Therefore, area of footing will be calculated as follow :-
Total load/safe bearing capacity = 2640/250 = 10.56 m2
Suppose, the diameter of the footing is taken as ?x? meter.
?x2/4 = 10.56
So, x = 3.667 m
Therefore, a diameter of 3.667 m is set for the circular footing.
